Things I love
Jackson Sparrow | Pirate Party
As most of you will know already from a previous post I uploaded not so long ago, my little boy turned 3 recently! One of my favourite things about being a mum is planning his birthday parties… and this year is the first year Jackson had an opinion on what he wanted!! I had planned a lovely bugs party and my Pinterest boards were buzzing with great ideas (http://pinterest.com/tandykerry/bug-party-ideas/)… like glass jar party packs with magnifying glasses and edible insects inside and my favourite, a mud cake with worms and bugs crawling all over it! BUT as most boys seem to be fascinated by pirates, and every party Jackson has been to recently has been pirate themed, this has made Jackson think that all boy parties have to be Pirate parties!!
After reminding myself that this was indeed Jackson’s birthday party (and not mine) I went back to the drawing board and embraced all things pirate, including making a pirate ship birthday cake! The party was such a success in Jackson’s mind that every Saturday after his party, he insisted on having another pirate party and doing it all again! Fingers crossed he allows me to plan a bugs party next year!! Thank you for looking, reading and sharing! T
Jackson turns 3!
My little (BIG) boy turned 3 in November last year! I simply cannot believe how big he is getting and am loving all that comes with his new 3 year old status! On this particular Sunday morning Jackson insisted on taking his balloon for a walk which gave me the idea to take some snaps! The sun was out and the wind was still, it was perfect! I took almost 800 photographs that morning as the light was so bright casting gorgeous shadows and Jackson was particularly cute which made a great combo! We ended the session with some friends at Munsons coffee shop (The best coffee in London) hence the last photo of me and Jackson! My next share will be “Jackson Sparrow’s” 3rd birthday party!!! Thank you for looking, reading and sharing! T xxx
30 Days of Jackson
In April I decided to do my first ever photo challenge… and who better to be my subject for 30 days than my own little boy Jackson! The challenge was to photograph anything that inspires you for 30 days. I had lots of people joining me in the challenge and it was so much fun that I will definitely do regular challenges throughout the year!
The moment Jackson came home from the hospital I’ve not stopped photographing him! He inspires me to be the best photographer that I can be so I can capture his personality perfectly! :) I hope you enjoy 30 days of Jackson! Look out for the next photo challenge and join me on a photographic journey! Thank you for looking, reading and sharing! T xxx
Holiday in Cape Town <3
I am dying to upload photographs from our recent holiday to Greece, but realised I hadn’t put any of our South African holiday pics up!! So first things first… here are a handful of some of my all time favourite photos of “The Vanns” (that’s me and my family) taken at Kalk Bay Harbour in Cape Town! These photos make me very homesick and I can almost taste the delicious fish and chips we had for lunch afterwards! I have lots of other photos I will share from this holiday… but for now here are just a few that I love! Thank you for looking, reading and sharing! T xxx
Jackson’s rockstar party
Ok so you’ve seen Jackson opening some of his presents and you’ve seen me frantically baking guitar cakes and sweetie-cupcakes… now it’s time to see the party pics! I must say I really enjoyed his first birthday party… yes it was a little chaotic at times but what first birthday party isn’t! For me the highlight was having our family in South Africa set up on skype on 2 computers in the living room singing happy birthday with us and all of Jackson’s friends! We had the lights off so all you could see were our families on the monitor and Jackson’s face in front of his first little candle! I will treasure that memory for many years to come!
Sofie the Giraffe…
… must be one of the most popular teething toys I’ve ever come across! Almost every shoot I’ve done has had a little Sophie tucked away in the toy box or hiding behind a Jelly cat bunny in the cot! It is of course a great toy and I highly recommend it to any new mum who has not yet got one. Sophie definitely has the squeak factor and you can always distract a grumpy baby with it. Trust me I know… Jackson got one when he was about 4 months old and it is the only toy from that stage that  still gets chewed on and played with! Oh and I almost forgot to mention that we call our Sophie Gerald the Giraffe… :)
Anton Vann
Saturday Night Ant, Paul and Tim played a gig at Native Tongue as part of a Battle of the Bands competition. The venue is tiny but awesome as it fills up quickly and has a great vibe! This was their first gig as a threesome and they rocked!! I know “Rock stars” isn’t what I normally blog about but thought i’d share some photos I took of the gig. :) The venue had some great graffiti on the walls… as you can see I love detail full stop… whether it’s a baby’s first toy or wall art in a music venue… no stone is left unturned!
Raggedy-Tag
After many weeks of admiring my friend’s raggedy tag she got as a gift for her little girl, I decided to make Jackson his very own. I used the first blanket he was ever wrapped in along with ribbons I’ve been collecting from various occasions such as my baby shower, my sister-in-law’s wedding, and flowers and gifts from when Jackson was born. The colours worked well together and I was pleased with the result as I didn’t plan the colour scheme etc. It’s very easy to make so if anyone wants to make one let me know and I’ll show you how I did it! It also only took 2 hours in total!
London Newborn Photography | My beautiful babes…
Tandykerry’s existence was inspired by “my beautiful babes”. Jackson my little boy… my perfect subject matter, has not only turned me into a full time mum but also a full time photographer. I feel as though every new milestone calls for a new photoshoot as I don’t want to forget a single memory. As a new mum i’ve had the wonderful privilege of meeting lots of mums and their sweet little ones and capturing their little personalities has been a wonderful experience. I would like to dedicate my first blog entry to Jackson and all “my beautiful babes” – they know who they are!
